Windows 11 Insider Preview 22499.1000 (rs_prerelease) 211105-1550

Windows 11 Insider Preview 22499.1000 (rs_prerelease) 211105-1550

Good Morning, friends! Microsoft has released a new pre-build of Windows 11 under the number 22499 for Windows Insider program participants using the Dev channel.

Currently, the Dev channel is releasing builds from the active development branch (RS_PRERELEASE), which may be unstable. Sometimes you will encounter problems that require certain actions or workarounds to solve. These builds do not relate to any particular version of Windows 11, which means that new features and improvements that will be in these builds will appear in the stable version only when they are ready.

Full Build Number: 10.0.22499.1000.rs_prerelease.211105-1550.

Assemblies are released on the Dev channel that may contain rather unpleasant errors. If you need more stability, but you want to use Windows 11 builds, we recommend switching to Beta or Release Preview channels.

Innovations

Quick launch of the window demonstration from the taskbar when communicating in Microsoft Teams

Last week, Microsoft introduced a new feature that allows you to quickly turn on and off the microphone during conferences in Microsoft Teams using a button on the taskbar. In the new build, another feature has appeared that allows you to start demonstrating the content of the desired window in Microsoft Teams directly from the taskbar. Now you don’t need to switch between windows to just start broadcasting the window, which means you don’t need to be distracted from the video conference or think about what the other participants see on their screen.

When you participate in a Microsoft Teams conference, hover your mouse cursor over the icon of the running application on the taskbar to see a new button for quickly launching a demonstration of this application window to meeting participants. When you finish the demo, hover over the window icon on the taskbar again and click “Stop Sharing”. You can also hover the cursor over another window and click on the “Share this Window” button to start the demonstration of another window. If you are showing a full-screen PowerPoint presentation, then move the mouse cursor to the bottom of the screen, after which a pop-up window will appear on the taskbar allowing you to start or stop broadcasting the presentation.

Currently, the feature is available to a small number of insiders with Microsoft Teams installed for work and study. Over time, Microsoft will make the feature available to more users. Later, there will be support in the “Chat” based on Microsoft Teams for home.

Developers of other audio and video conferencing applications will also be able to add support for this feature to their products.

Changes and improvements

Based on the feedback, Microsoft has made the visual elements of the keyboard focus in the “Task View” and the Alt + Tab menu more noticeable.

Corrections

  • When you log into your profile for the first time on this build, the clipboard history should automatically recover and work correctly.

  • Updated internal dictionaries for several languages. Now the hints and corrections of words when using the touch keyboard should become more accurate.

Another fix has been made to fix the problem that caused explorer.exe it crashed if you pressed ALT + F4 and the Alt + Tab menu was open.

  • Now the apostrophe is correctly displayed in the error message that appears on the login screen if the fingerprint was not recognized.
  • If you take a screenshot of a UWP application by clicking on the “Create” button in the Scissors tool, the window of this tool should now appear in the foreground after creating the screenshot.
  • Fixed an issue that caused a GSOD to occur on some devices with the SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED error when exiting sleep mode.
  • Fixed a problem with MediaPlaybackCommandManager, due to which some applications sometimes could not play multimedia content.
  • Fixed an issue where reports in the “System Stability Log View” unexpectedly turned out to be empty and displayed an empty rectangle when trying to view additional information.
  • Some fixes have been made to solve the problem that caused some games to experience a delay that is noticeable only if the focus is on the game window. If necessary, you can leave additional feedback on performance in games using the instructions from Microsoft.

Note. Some of the fixes listed above may be included in cumulative updates for the release version of Windows 11 from October 5.

Known issues

Common:

  • Users who have upgraded from build 22000.xxx or earlier to the current build from the Dev channel using an ISO image may see the following warning: “The build you are trying to install is Flight Signed. To continue the installation, enable the ability to install such assemblies.” If you receive this message, click on the “Enable” button, restart your computer and try the update again.
  • The problem is being investigated, because of which new builds and other updates are not installed on some PCs. An error with the code 0×80070002 may appear on the device. If you have this problem, then restart your computer and try again.
  • On some devices, when installing this build, a BSOD with error code 0xc1900101-0=4001c may appear. If you encounter an error, the system will roll back to the previous build. You can pause receiving updates until the patch is released.

“Start”:

In some cases, you will not be able to enter text when using the search from the Start menu or taskbar. If you have this problem, press WIN +R to open the Run dialog box, and then close it.

Taskbar:

  • The taskbar sometimes flashes when switching keyboard layouts or input methods.
  • The problem is being investigated, because of which the clock on the taskbar may not be updated, especially if you connect to a PC via remote desktop.

Input:

Engineers are working on fixing a problem that caused some insiders to have incorrect indicators on the keyboard (for example, Caps Lock) after upgrading to a previous build.

Search:

After clicking on the icon on the taskbar, the search bar may not open. In this case, restart the Explorer process, and then open the Search again.

Quick actions:

The reports that the volume and brightness sliders of the display are incorrectly displayed in the pop-up window of quick actions are being studied.

I wish you a successful update!
