Twitter Responsible ML initiative aims for algorithm dare

Twitter has introduced a new program in an attempt to improve its Machine Learning (ML) skills and ensure that it does not cause unintended harm.

Twitter also has an ML Ethics, Transparency and Accountability (META) team consisting of a dedicated team of investigators, data scientists, and engineers looking at these ML-related challenges. The team will research the following priorities:

Gender analysis and saliency discrimination

A review of local time line recommendations in sub-ethnic groups

Analysis of content recommendations for different political views

“We are also developing descriptive ML solutions so you can better understand our algorithms, what they value, and how it affects what you see on Twitter. Similarly, algorithmic choices will allow people to have more input and control in building what they want Twitter to be. We are currently in the early stages of testing this and will share more soon, ”Twitter said on his blog.

Twitter also asked the public to help build its ResponsibleML program. Interested users can also learn more about the program, using #AskTwitterMETA on Twitter.

The latest announcement comes as part of Twitter’s efforts to improve its algorithms to address widely reported issues such as bias, harassment, and the spread of false information. The company has painted a flak by not doing enough to stop this.

In the case of photo editing, Twitter has admitted that its automatic photo editing feature has a problem where the technique always captures and previews people with fair skin regardless of the original image fence.

In addition to altering algorithms, Twitter also sought public opinion in creating a content framework posted by politicians and government officials. In addition to conducting the study, Twitter also enlisted the help of human rights experts, civil society organizations and academics around the world.
