Scientific Advisor principal K VijayRaghavan has launched a mobile app to promote mental health, his office said on Wednesday.
This app, MANAS, which represents the Mental Health and Normalcy Augmentation System, is a comprehensive, scary, and healthy digital health platform nationally.
The app is designed to enhance the mental well-being of Indian citizens, according to the office of the chief scientific adviser.
MANAS combines health and well-being efforts of various spheres of government, traditional scientifically proven tools with integrated facilities developed and researched by various national organizations and research institutes.
“MANAS was started by the Office of the Chief Scientific Adviser in the Government of India. It was co-operated by NIMHANS Bengaluru, AFMC (Armed Forces Medical College), Pune and C-DAC (Center for the Development of Advanced Computing) Bengaluru,” said VijayRaghavan’s office.
In launching MANAS, VijayRaghavan said, “The application must be integrated with public health programs such as the National Health Mission, Poshan Abhiyan, Sanjeevani and others in order for it to be widely used.
Lieutenant General Madhuri Kanitkar, a member of the PM-STIAC (Premier of Science, Technology, and Innovation Advisory Council), emphasized that MANAS is based on health skills and a key psychological process.
The first type of MANAS focuses on promoting good mental health in the 15-35 age group, he said.
