Apple Inc. has launched an updated iPad Pro with a faster processor, 5G connectivity, an improved screen and new cameras, offering a more powerful version of its expensive tablet aimed at staff and students returning to offices and schools.
The new models come in 11-inch and 12.9-inch screen sizes like the previous model, and look almost identical to the iPad Pro design launched in 2018. The latest devices include the company’s M1 processor from Mac Apple which said much faster than the A12Z chip on the previous iPad Pro launched almost a year ago.
The iPad generated $ 8.4 billion during Apple’s 2020 key break, the largest amount since 2014. Sales exceeded demand by people working and studying at home during the epidemic. The technology giant based in Cupertino, California is betting on these changes to keep interest on the tablet line, which began Tuesday as part of Apple’s product event.
The new iPad Pro also includes a MiniLED screen, named by Apple as the Liquid Retina XDR Display, a company that said it would make brighter colors, more details and improved contrast scales. The new screen, however, is only available to authors with a larger 12.9-inch model. Apple will also offer iPads for the fifth generation, or 5G, wireless connectivity, expanding its 5G portfolio to the iPhone 12 lineup.
Apple has upgraded the iPad Pro camera system, too, with a new wide 12-megapixel camera on the front and an improved light sensor on the back. The company has also announced an updated Magic Keyboard coming in a new white color.
New iPad Pros go on sale on April 30 and will start at $ 799 with an 11-inch model. The 12.9-inch version with the MiniLED screen will start at $ 1,099. Models with 5G capability will cost more, and the final ters will be up to 2 terabytes for the first time. Bloomberg News reported on the new iPads last month.
Apple has used its expertise in developing a custom chip to give it a leg up on the competition. The company began switching its Mac computers to its internally designed processors last year, discarding items from Intel Corp. The M1 chip on new iPads is the same organization within the latest MacBook Air, the entry level of MacBook Pro, Mac mini and the new Mac.
The company said the processor will enable new technology applications and improved virtual reality offerings. It has eight large computer cores and eight graphics cores, the same as on Mac chips. That’s more than the A14 processor on the iPhone 12 and the cheapest iPad Air, with six major computing computers and four cores of graphics.
Apple said the new iPad Pros will install the Thunderbolt connector for the first time, allowing it to be compatible with other accessories such as external monitors. This also allows the iPad to sync with other external storage drives at faster speeds. While the port is being upgraded, it is the same size as the USB-C connector on the previous iPad Pro. That means users will not need to purchase new chargers.
