If you need to customize an Apple product you may need to go to an Apple store or need to go to a trusted third-party service center. However, if these options are limited or too expensive for you, Apple has recently announced the expansion of its standalone Supplier program and the program will expand it to almost every country where Apple products are sold. Therefore, someone close to you may use Apple’s official components to repair your devices.
The Independent Repair Provider program is currently only available in the US, Canada and Europe, and according to Apple’s announcement, repair providers from Australia, Korea and Japan will be able to join the program this week. Providers from other countries, including China, will be able to join the program by the end of the year.
These service providers need to apply to become part of the Independent Repair Provider program and once approved they can purchase a few Apple brands such as batteries, screens and diagnostic tools.
This means that your local repair person, once part of the system, can help you with common problems using these basic components. For the most part, you will still have to go through Apple or one of its authorized providers or risk losing the warranty or end up unsupported.
If you are an Apple device developer and want to be a part of the program, there are some things you need to know. Once you are part of the program you sign a contract that gives Apple the right to inspect repair shops and also fine them if something goes wrong. Apple could charge $ 1,000 for the sale of any repair shop found using knockoff parts in addition to the 2% correction, according to reports.
