32 Indian organizations attacked by hackers

A total of 32 Indian organizations were hacked by hackers, who exploited the vulnerabilities of Microsoft Exchange servers according to a Check Point Research report. The report states that the financial / banking sector was the most affected sector with 28 percent followed by government / military (16 percent), manufacturing (12.5 percent), insurance / law (9.5 percent) and other sectors 34 percent.

A report released on March 15 states that hacking efforts have increased tenfold from 700 to more than 7,200 between March 11 and March 15.

The country most affected by the United States is 17 percent. It is also the only two-digit country in this attack. The United States is followed by Germany (6 percent), the United Kingdom (5 percent), the Netherlands (5 percent), and Russia (4 percent) and the other countries in the world account for 63 percent.

The most targeted industry in the world is the government / military by 23 percent. According to research, although the Covid-19 epidemic affects people and organizations around the world, health care accounts for about 6 percent of attacks on the list of highly targeted industries.

On March 3, Microsoft released an emergency clip to combat hacking groups and strengthen the security of its mail server where anything can be done within Outlook, including all incoming and outgoing emails, calendar invitations.

Earlier this year in January, Taiwan’s security company, DEVCORE, reported two accidents. After further investigation, Microsoft identified five significant defects (four zero days). However, at that time, the attacker had access to the person’s email or email account without verification.

Risk is also compromised to enable email management. Once that is done, the hacker has the ability to open the internet and access it remotely. This poses a threat to millions of organizations worldwide.

“If your organization’s Microsoft Exchange server is exposed online, and if it has not been updated with the latest updates, or is protected by third-party software, you should consider the server completely compromised,” said Lotem Finkelsteen, Intelligence Threat Manager. of Check Point Software, indicated in the report.
