Windows 10 Insider Preview 20257.1 fe_release 201106-1554

Good evening, friends! Microsoft has released a new Windows 10 pre-build number 20257 for Windows Insider program members using the Dev channel (formerly “Early access”).

Full build number: Windows 10 Insider Preview 20257.1 fe_release 201106-1554

The previous build, the name of the branch that builds released from has changed to FE_RELEASE. As in May, when insiders started getting from the MN_RELEASE, the company is practising the ability to change a branch that is considered an active development branch. Since engineers work indifferent within the development cycle, insiders may need to move between these branches. As a result of switching to the FE_RELEASE, insiders will notice that some features, such as the updated emoticon panel, redesigned touch keyboard and voice input, as well as theme-based splash screens, have been temporarily removed from the system. The company hopes to return these features to insiders in the future. And an important reminder: FE_RELEASE builds do not apply to any specific version of Windows 10.

Other insider updates

The simultaneous launch of multiple Android apps via ” Your phone»

The “Your phone” app continues to evolve. From now on, you can run multiple Android mobile apps at once on your Windows 10 PC if you own a supported Samsung smartphone. Apps run in separate Windows, allowing you to interact with them simultaneously, even if the Your Phone app isn’t running. You can pin the desired apps to your Favorites, start menu, or taskbar for quick access to them. Moreover, pinned apps can be found through Windows search.

Your-phone

This feature is slowly becoming accessible on Samsung Galaxy smartphones such as Note20 5G, Note20 Ultra 5G, Z Fold2 5G, Z Flip, Z Flip 5G running Android 10 with Link to Windows integration. This feature is only possible for members of the Windows Insider Program on the Dev, Beta, and Release Preview channels.

The feature is activated on the server-side, so it may take some time before you see it in the “Your phone” app.

Changes and improvements

Based on feedback, Microsoft updated the description logic for tiles in the start menu so that the framework of Win32 application tiles no longer uses the determined contrast coefficient. Does not apply to pin Microsoft Edge PWA applications.
