We would let you that the Dev channel can contain quite unpleasant errors if you are a beginner. If you need more establishment, we recommend switching to the Release Preview channels or Beta (Late access).

Innovations

The “Paste text only” function in the clipboard history

If you open the clipboard history (WIN + V), click on the ” … “button next to any text entry, you will see a new” Insert text only ” option next to the pin and delete buttons. If you use this option, the text will be inserted without its original formatting (font, colour, size, etc.), so that it will match the formatting of your document.

Other updates for insiders

The Journal App

Of all the methods of interacting with devices, digital pen input is unique in terms of speed and degree of natural expression. The Journal app lets you combine disparate ideas, sketch drawings, insert annotations, and search for information.

Journal supports intuitive handwriting gestures powered by artificial intelligence, and you can also connect to a work or school Microsoft 365 account (subscription required).

Microsoft invites insiders to download the app from the Microsoft Store, test it, and share feedback on new features and features that will help the company better understand user needs and expand the handwriting capabilities of the app.

Changes and improvements

  • Now insiders users of the ARM64-based x64 application no longer need to download and install a different version of the previous release of the ARM64 C ++ Redistributable package.
  • A change has been made so that the notification when pairing supported Bluetooth devices now stays on the screen a little longer so that you can interact with it before it disappears. If you want to close it, you can do so at any time by clicking on the X in the notification, right-clicking on it, or swiping the notification towards the edge of the screen.
  • The touch keyboard improvements mentioned in Build 21301 are now available to all insiders on the Dev channel. This is primarily about the updated keyboard layout for devices with a screen diagonal of 12 inches or more, as well as an improved word prediction panel.
  • Improved smoothness of movement when using the “Screen Magnifier” in a scenario where you switch between mouse and keyboard focus.

Bug Fixes

  • [News and interests] Microsoft thanks you for your feedback on the space occupied by the “News and Interests” button on the taskbar. Engineers have been actively working on a solution that would allow you to make the most of the available space. Starting with this build, the button on the taskbar will dynamically change its size depending on the amount of free space on the taskbar.
  • [News and Interests] Fixed an issue where changing the Windows accent colour was not immediately applied to the News and Interests popup window.
  • [News & Interests] Fixed an issue where trying to share a news item via email would cause the pop-up window to close, but the Mail app wouldn’t launch.
  • [News & Interests] Fixed an issue where hovering over a pop-up window would appear faster than other items on the taskbar.
  • [News and Interests] Fixed several issues affecting performance and stability explorer.exe, as well as the ability to log in.
  • Fixed an issue where the right side of the Quick Actions area in the Notification Center was cropped.
  • Fixed an issue where Netflix and other ARM64 apps could not play DRM content.
  • Fixed an issue where x64 applications such as OBS Studio could not activate the camera on ARM64 devices.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the installation of Azure Data Studio and, as a result, SQL Server Management Studio on ARM64 devices.
  • Fixed several PowerShell cmdlets running in the x64 version of PowerShell on ARM64 devices. Examples of certain cmdlets currently in use: Enable PSRemoting, Enable WindowsOptionalFeature, Get-VPN connection.
  • Fixed an issue where the active keyboard layout resets to the default value after connecting to a PC using a remote desktop.
  • Fixed an issue with IME Quick and Changjie where pressing CTRL + / would unexpectedly insert an ellipsis if IME was turned off.
  • Fixed an issue where Pinyin IME settings could not be found using Windows search. After this update, if you use Pinyin IME when you search for the word Pinyin, the corresponding settings pages will be displayed in the results.
  • Fixed an issue where the touch keyboard could become too large after turning off the external monitor.
  • Fixed an issue where tooltips in the Emoji Panel had a border that was too thick when using high contrast in Windows.
  • Fixed an issue where system restore didn’t work with the “Save my files” option.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the elements of the Open dialogue box to be too small when calling the window from certain applications and moving between monitors with different zoom levels.
  • Fixed an issue where the “Onscreen Narrator” could suddenly say “No item in view” when you used the arrow keys to navigate through the list of applications in the Start menu.
  • Fixed an issue where it was not possible to pin apps in the Start menu in the previous build.
  • Fixed an issue where an incorrect firewall profile was displayed in domain networks in previous builds, which could block some local network services.
  • Some insiders reported a problem with the phrase “Do not turn off the computer”, which appeared when upgrading to a previous build. In this build, the company changed the text to “Please do not turn off the computer and do not disconnect it from the network”.

Known Issues

  • We are investigating an issue where, after upgrading to Build 21313, you cannot use Remote Desktop (RDP) to connect to a device that is attached to Azure Active Directory (AAD). To resolve this issue, make the following changes to the registrar:
  • Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\IdentityStore\LoadParameters{B16898C6-A148-4967-9171-64D755DA8520}]
  • Value: “Enabled” =dword: 00000001
  • We are investigating reports that the system update process may hang for a long time when trying to install a new build.
  • The problem that affects the stability of the Start menu and other modern applications is investigated. The problem occurred in previous builds. If you are affected by it, the Start menu layout may be reset.
  • The real-time preview for pinned site tabs is not yet available to all insiders, so you may see a grey window when you hover over the thumbnail on the taskbar. Engineers are working on improving this feature.
  • Engineers are working on enabling a new taskbar feature for already pinned websites. However, you can unpin the site from the taskbar, remove it from the edge://apps page, and then re-pin it.
  • [News and Interests] We’re investigating an issue where the function bar button may not display the content after changing the main monitoring setting.
  • [News and Interests] We are investigating an issue where the News Interests widget may not be available when you log in to Windows without an Internet connection.
  • [News and interests] Sometimes the pop-up window of news and interesting information cannot be closed with a pen.
  • [ARM64] Insiders who installed the Qualcomm Adreno graphics driver preview version on the Surface Pro X can get a reduced display brightness. The problem will be fixed in the future build. If you encounter this problem, then check out the topic in the “Feedback Center” at this link.
  • We are investigating reports that the text of the lunar calendar in Chinese has stopped being displayed correctly in the “Clock and Calendar” pop-up window on the taskbar.

I wish you a successful update!
