Good evening, friends! Microsoft has released a new pre-build of Windows 10 under the number 20190 for Windows Insider program participants using the Dev channel (formerly “Early access”).

Full build number: 20190.1000. rs_prerelease.200807-1609.

We suggest you that the Dev channel provides builds that can contain quite bothersome errors. If you require more durability, we recommend changing to Beta channels (Late access) or Release Preview.

Changes and improvements

  • Based on the feedback, Microsoft updated the new Japanese IME to support switching between hiragana and katakana using the CTRL + CAPSLOCK and ALT + CAPSLOCK keyboard shortcuts, respectively, as it did in the previous version.

Innovations

Window with information about innovations after the system update

Microsoft understands that it is not always clear what exactly has changed in a functional update of the operating system, let alone how to find and try out new features and improvements. This means that updates may seem useless and time-consuming to you. The company wants to change this.

Now, the first time you start after a system update, the Tips app window will appear, which will describe the most important changes in the installed major Windows 10 update. After installing this insider build, you will see the Tips app running, which will tell you about some of the new features from the latest insider builds on the Dev channel.

Improved graphics settings

This is not a new feature, but this build has made significant changes to how it works based on customer feedback. All this should improve user interaction with the graphics settings. So, the following improvements have been made:

  • Updated graphics settings so that users can choose the default GPU for high-performance mode.
  • Updated graphics settings so that users can select a specific GPU for each application.

If you are an experienced user who has several high-performance GPUs and you want to specify which one should be used for high-performance tasks. This means that an application that requires a high-performance GPU will use the GPU that you specify on this page by default.

Corrections

  • Fixed an issue with Windows Subsystem for Linux 1 that could cause the error “I / o Operation was aborted due to a thread exit or due to an application request”. Details about the problem are available on Github.
  • Fixed an issue that could lead to explorer.exe stopped responding to requests after coming out of sleep mode on touch-screen devices.
  • Fixed an issue with the new search field on the default Apps page in Settings that caused search results to appear on top of each other when characters were removed from the search field.
  • Fixed an issue were shifting to the English keyboard utilising WIN + and then changing back to Chinese Pinyin IME, the punctuation marks implying typed implied Chinese, even if the “Use English punctuation is enabled for Chinese input method”.
  • Fixed an issue where the pin input touch panel might appear unexpectedly when enabling Screen announcer if the focus was set on the login screen.
  • Fixed an issue where additional components (functions on request) were not enabled on previous builds due to an error with the code 0×8000FFFF. This is also considered the main reason why insiders did not work with the SFC /scannow command, which referred to waiting for the device to restart.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the application call window (for example, Microsoft Edge) to freeze if an authentication request appeared but the user did not interact with it, causing the timeout to expire.

Known error

  • We are working on a solution to a Problem where some Microsoft Store Games protected with Easy Anti-Cheat may not be able to be started.
  • We review reports about the Update process that gets stuck trying to install a new Build over extended periods.
  • We are working on a fix for a Problem where the min/max/close buttons get stuck in their original Position after resizing a UWP application. If you relocate the App window, the Disposition should be updated.
  • We are reviewing records that the current taskbar practice for Pinned Sites is not operating for some Sites.
  • We are working on a solution to enable live preview for pinned Tabs of Websites.
  • We are working on activating the new taskbar feature for existing pinned Websites. In the meantime, you can eliminate the site of the taskbar, eliminate it from the edge://apps page, and later reattach.
  • We are working to fix a problem where pinned Websites do not display all open Tabs for a domain. In the meantime, you can get this by pinning the homepage of the Site preferably of a particular page pin (e.g., microsoft.com instead microsoft.com/windows ).
  • We are struggling on fixing a difficulty where Alt + Tabbing on a Browser Tab seldom moves the earlier active Browser Tab to the tip of the Alt + Tab list.
  • The headings in the “All Applications” list of the Start Menu have unnecessary left-sided fill characters if the “All Applications” list has been set to “hidden”.
