Microsoft Windows 10 Insider Fast 19592.1001 200321-1719 Prerelease

Good morning, friends! Microsoft has released a new pre-build of Windows 10 under the number 19592 for Windows Insider program participants using the “Early access” channel (Fast Ring).

Full build number: 19592.1001.rs_prerelease.200321-1719.

We remind you that the “Early access” channel releases builds that may contain rather unpleasant errors. If you need more stability, we recommend switching to the Slow (Late access) or Release Preview channels.

Innovations

The new tablet interface for 2-in-1 convertible PCs

Microsoft is starting to * roll out a pre-release version of the new tablet interface for 2-in-1 convertible PCs to some insiders using the “Early Access” channel. It is different from the tablet mode that you can still use. The new interface allows users to switch to tablet mode without interruption while remaining on the familiar desktop, and also offers the following improvements to touch screen control:

  • Increase the interval between icons on the taskbar.
  • Collapses the search field to an icon on the taskbar.
  • The touch keyboard is automatically called when you click on the text fields.
  • Switching the “Explorer” to a layout optimized for the touch screen.

You will also notice that some of the relevant settings have been updated in the “Settings” -> “System” section to give you control over the experience of interacting with the system.

To ensure the necessary quality, the feature will gradually spread, starting with the part of insiders who have never previously disconnected their keyboard, or who have the “Tablet Mode” setting set to “Never solicit authorization and never partitioning”.

Microsoft wants to hear your feedback on the changes. Use these steps for testing:

  • Use your hybrid PC as a laptop, as usual, opening apps and interacting with it.
  • When you are ready to take it or just lean back on the sofa, pull the keyboard back or disconnect it completely, after which the system interface should switch to the new mode shown below.
  • Now use your device as a touch-screen tablet without switching to tablet mode.

*Note. This feature was previously available to insiders as an experiment starting with Windows 10 20H1 Build 18970 and was removed in build 19013. After some refinement, the company again offers it to insiders and plans to release this innovation to customers as part of a future update for Windows 10.

BattlEye and Microsoft have identified compatibility issues with some Insider Preview builds with certain versions of the anti-cheat program BattlEye due to changes in the operating system. To protect insiders who may have these versions installed, a restriction has been implemented so that Insider Preview builds will not be offered for devices that may be affected by this issue. More information can be found here.
Microsoft is aware of a problem with Screen announcer and NVDA users using the new chromium-based version of Microsoft Edge, which may cause some difficulties when navigating and reading certain web content. Development teams are working to fix the problem. This issue does not affect users of an outdated version of Microsoft Edge. NVAccess has released NVDA 2019.3, which fixes the issue with Edge.
We are investigating reports that the system update process may stall for a long time when trying to install a new build.
On some devices, a GSOD may occur during a reboot to install this update. If this happens, login, schedule the update installation time and then log out of all profiles before the scheduled time. The installation should continue without any problems.
The “Documents” section in the privacy settings does not display the icon correctly (a simple rectangle).
When you use the Win + PrtSc keyboard shortcut to capture a screenshot, the image is not saved in the Screenshots folder. As a workaround, we suggest using other options for creating screenshots, such as Win + Shift + S.
We investigate reports that Sticky Notes Windows cannot be moved around the desktop. As a temporary solution, set the focus to Sticky Notes, then press Alt + < Space>. This combination will open a menu that contains a parameter to move. Select it and you can use the arrow keys or mouse to move the window.
We investigate issues where insiders receive warnings about driver compatibility when trying to upgrade to a newer build in certain virtual environments.
